Children and Worry

Tonight TeamKid at Metairie Baptist will be about Jesus’ command and teaching on not to worry.  As adults, we know what it means to worry about bills, jobs, and life in general.  Sometimes we don’t acknowledge that children can fall prey to worry at a young age.  It can be a coping mechanism in a dysfunctional environment, a learned behavior, and/or some biology may play a part in it.

Matthew 6 and 1 Peter 5:7 remind us that Jesus and His kingdom should have our affections, not our everyday needs and worries.  Jesus does not promise wealth and safe circumstances, but He promises His presence and availability to all who give Him their anxieties.

So that you may be blameless and pure, children of God who are faultless in a crooked and perverted generation, among whom you shine like stars in the world. Phil. 2:15 #prayingforthisgenerationofkids

CentriKid Camp Pastor

We were very blessed to have Matt Weston as our CK Pastor.  He brought the Word every-night unashamedly and wholeheartedly.  He has had an eleven year affiliation with CentriKid, and also works alongside Pastors to help churches become more missional. The last day of camp, he recapped the week and sent us off.  Here is a clip of the last few minutes of camp.

Day Three of CentriKid

Wednesday’s theme was “God provides calling.”  After the conversion of Paul, God made it clear to Ananias that He had called Paul to spread the Gospel and suffer for His name.  The kids learned throughout the day that their calling is to be a blessing to the world by sharing the Gospel and discipling others.  I really saw fruit in the lives of our girls as they decided last night to meet together once a week to study the Bible and pray.  Praise God for the work He is doing!

Day Two of CentriKid

Tuesday’s focus was God provides forgiveness.  The emphasis was on the conversion experience of Saul into Paul.  I encouraged the kids to look at their own lives and determine where they are with Christ: not saved, saved but not being daily obedient, or saved and pursuing God’s will even this week.  I can really see spiritual fruit in the lives of the kids yesterday when the girls initiated their own devotional time together.  I believe God is stirring the hearts of all of us, and I pray that our experience this week will carry over into our daily lives as we go back home.  By the way, the kids are having a blast.  We adults are having as much fun, if not more than them!  God is good.
